John started CrossFit in 2014 as a way to stay fit for his Career as a Firefighter Paramedic.

John loves the community that the gym creates and the way members support each other both in their workouts and outside the gym. This place is where you find the people who dare to go out of their comfort zone to better themselves and the people around them.

Meredith comes to Crossfit Bangor with a background in a little bit of everything.

From competitive team sports – basketball, lacrosse, soccer – to outdoor adventure sports – white water rafting and kayaking, rock and ice climbing, road and mountain biking, sailing, SCUBA diving and horseback riding to name a few – Meredith has not met a physical challenge she has not enjoyed.

After a long love affair with competitive endurance sports at University, Meredith had her first taste of Crossfit during a trip to Calgary in 2012 and has not looked back. A bit of a rolling stone, Meredith has had the opportunity to train at a number of boxes across the country and abroad over the past 6 years. Moving between a focus on Olympic Weightlifting and competitive Crossfit, Meredith is a technician at heart and loves to perfect the movement and techniques of the sport. As an athlete and a coach, Meredith’s diverse background gives her a wealth of knowledge from which to pull information. She is constantly driven to learn, grow and improve, and sees coaching as an opportunity to not only teach people functional movement skills but also to help them find a passion for self-improvement she so cherishes.

Owner Melinda Metten opened CrossFit Bangor in June 2011 so she could have a place to work out with her friends. Little did she know, her whole life was about to change. CrossFit Bangor’s reputation spread like wildfire, and so did membership at her box.

Melinda does it all, not just at the gym, but in life. Aside from owning a gym, she’s also a firefighter and a boom operator. Her unstoppable drive and work ethic mean she’s not good at hiding her disappointment when she sees other people not living up to their potential. “I can’t stand when people avoid adversity all their life and constantly sell themselves short.”

Tiffany comes to us from the Brunswick/Portland area and has been a CrossFit Coach for 7 years. She has a long standing background in fitness with a  Bachelors degree in Community Health Communication from The University of Maine at Farmington and double minors in Exercise Science and Nutrition.

Tiffany has seen undeniable personal growth since starting CrossFit in 2009, and is excited to bring that same passion for exercise and wellness to the members of CrossFit Bangor.

is known at CrossFit Bangor as “The WOD Whisperer.” He got introduced to CrossFit in 2008 when he was at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and was instantly addicted. He’s always been passionate about fitness, and CrossFit was a perfect fit for him. Kevin says the best thing about coaching is seeing his members’ confidence shoot up when they get closer and closer to reaching their goals.

His favorite quote is: “Most men stop when they begin to tire. Good men go until they think they are going to collapse. But the very best know the mind tires before the body and push themselves further and further beyond all limits. Only when all these limits are shattered can the unattainable be reached.”-Mark Mysynk

James started at CF Bangor in April 2014 after many sedentary years of med school/residency. Prior athletic experience he was high school soccer and collegiate rugby/rowing. Coaching CrossFit since Fall 2016 . In James’ professional life he sees people with all manners of acute and chronic medical problems during his ‘day job’ in the emergency department at St Joseph Hospital, but he also gets tremendous satisfaction and often feel that we are doing more for long term health within the confines of the gym. Crossfit is not just a ‘workout routine’ but when fully embraced can be a lifestyle and treatment for the tidal wave of chronic disease that we face as a nation.
CF Bangor is a community that continues to provide close friends, support, and an amazing outlet for work stress.

Cherie hails from Wisconsin, current home of the CrossFit Games and more cows than you can shake a stick at (state motto-why don’t you put some cheese on that?). Cherie started Crossfit in 2012, while living in Maryland, when a  Groupon deal for a new gym was too good to pass up. Thirty days, a million wallballs, and she was hooked. Crossfit has improved her life in many ways, developing strength and a confidence patience and perseverance, humility and discipline.  Cherie loves cooking and when the weather is nice can be found playing in her garden. Cherie is excited to meet you all and have the opportunity to help you grow into a stronger athlete!

She loves motivating others and watching athletes transform into better versions of themselves. Michele started CF in 2012 because “all of her friends were getting muscles” and she wanted them too! She eats chocolate, loves babies, and is a cancer survivor.  Yep, Crossfit helped her do that.

Started CrossFit in 2011 the year CFB was born.  Karen was a member for three years before becoming a coach in 2014.  She joined CrossFit to become more physically fit, motivated by her new job as a firefighter paramedic she soon found much more at CFB.  Realizing it was more about investing in herself becoming not only stronger physically and mentally but improving her overall health.
Coaching at CrossFit Bangor has allowed her to help others find the strength and potential in themselves.   Her favorite part about CrossFit Bangor is not only the success people find here in fitness, but the amazing support of the community that it has created.   The friends made here are for life.
Favorite lift would have to be the Snatch. A technical lift that is rewarding to watch others succeed at.  
Love being outdoors.  Will move a barbell outside any chance she gets.   Active recovery days are filled with hiking, fishing, hunting, and camping.  She also loves food and loves to cook!!!

Maine Air National Guard Pilot

Derek started doing Crossfit back in 2011 looking for a change from his normal workout routine. He was instantly hooked and has been doing it ever since. Derek obtained his CrossFit Level 1 certification in 2013 and has been a part time coach at CFB ever since. Crossfit has helped make his job at the Maine Air National guard a lot easier, by using CrossFit for stress relief as well as allowing him to be in the best physical shape he is better able to manage working odd hours and helping keep his focus at 100%! Derek loves to see the new members come into the gym and see what they are capable of, and seeing them break through barriers and gain a newfound confidence.

Was introduced to CrossFit six years ago by his wife, Melinda, and is so glad he was. Today, he’s thrilled to help members improve their bodies and minds with CrossFit. He specializes in body weight movements and loves watching members “accomplish something they thought impossible.” His favorite quote is “I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.

Michele found CrossFit in 2012 and for most of her adult life I have taught group exercise classes in a wide variety of formats in gyms across the world, and while this has brought her great joy and satisfaction, it wasn’t always a challenge to her physically. After her first CrossFit WOD, she knew I was hooked. Not only was she able to practice a wide variety of skills, she is pushed to her limits on a weekly basis. But the real reason she continues to CrossFit is the community, friendships and support she have found at every box  she’s been to around the world, and CF Bangor is no exception. Currently I hold a CF Level 1 certification also teach Yoga at CrossFit Bangor, outside the gym doors she is a math professor, Navy wife and proud dog mom.

Connor has been involved in athletics his entire life, his main sport before CrossFit was wrestling. And he begin wrestling in sixth grade, he continued to wrestle throughout High School and eventually finished up his career at Husson University. At Husson University he earned his Bachelor’s in Kinesiology & Biomechanics and  was introduced to CrossFit by a high-school wrestling coach and has been doing CrossFit for five years now, eventually pursuing his CF- L1 in 2014 and hasn’t looked back.
A word from Coach Connor; “A very important aspect of coaching is that no matter how knowledgeable you are about the fitness industry, you can always learn more. Being a coach means so much more than just running a class through sixty minutes of fitness. A saying that will always resonate with me: “If you do what you love, you will never work another day in your life”. What I believe is actually the opposite! If you love what you do, you will work harder and be more committed than you would be doing anything else. I always get excited before a class because as a coach I have the opportunity to positively impact your journey in fitness, and in life.”
